I’ve been doing a lot of reading about writing. Specifically, I’ve been reading about how to establish my credibility as a writer. While watching a free online webinar about writing, the topic of writing for other blogs came up.

Hmm. Interesting.

There are quite a few blogs that I read daily, so I wrote to several of them and pitched some ideas.

One of the blogs I read daily got back to me and said they would love to use my post.

Two days later I got a reply from one of the sites. Now, usually when I get a reply that quickly, it’s a rejection. My finger was poised to hit click the little trash can icon. But the subject line was different. I clicked on it and saw this:

Wait…are you serious?

I had to read the email several times. Then I did my happy Snoopy dance (you don’t want to see it…trust me).

I am SO beyond excited I don’t know what to do with myself. This is a website with a social media following of 500,000 people! Yeah, you read that right!

This a great opportunity for two reasons: 1) I get to give back to a site that has given me so much over the past year and 2) I get to be introduced to half a million writers!

That’s pretty awesome.

I spent some time enjoying this victory and sucking every last bit of motivation out of it that I could.

Now it’s back to the hustle. Don’t worry, there will be another snoopy dance once my guest post has been published. :-)

So…if you’re an emerging writer like myself and you need a little bit of inspiration, I hope you found some here. The writing life can be discouraging and sometimes filled with more no’s than yes’s. But don’t give up. You never know what’s waiting for you around the corner.

Keep pushing, writing comrades!
